Show the plumber what is happening, how urgent it is and where to work without taking unsafe photos or sharing private details.

Describe what happens, not what you think has failed
“Water gathers under the kitchen sink when the tap runs” is more useful than “the pipe is broken.” Name the room and fixture, when you first noticed the issue, whether it happens all the time or only during use, and whether water flow or drainage has changed. If a heater or appliance is involved, add its brand and model only if you can read the label safely. You do not need to diagnose the fault.
Which photos help a plumber?
Two or three clear photos are usually enough:
- A wider view showing the sink, toilet, heater or drain and the area around it.
- A close view of the visible drip, stain, crack or pooled water, without moving fittings.
- A model label or displayed error code, if relevant and easy to reach.
Use good light and keep faces, identity documents, keys, access codes and unrelated belongings out of the frame. If the problem appears only when a tap runs, say so. Do not run a leaking appliance, flush a backing-up toilet or enter a wet electrical area just to take a photo. A written description is enough when a photo would be unsafe.
Explain the urgency and what you have done
Tell the provider whether water is actively spreading, wastewater is backing up, a toilet is unusable or the problem is a small intermittent drip. If you already know the affected fixture's isolation valve and can reach it safely, closing it may help limit damage. Do not force a stuck valve, dismantle pipes or use chemical drain cleaner before the problem is assessed.
Keep away from water near outlets, switches or appliances, and seek urgent qualified help. Do not touch wet electrical equipment. A normal service request should not delay a response to an immediate hazard.
After the leak is controlled and the area is safe, arrange prompt drying of damp walls, cabinets or floors. Moisture left in building materials can allow mold to grow. Mention visible dampness and whether the technician will need access to a cabinet or building entrance. Share sensitive access details only through an appropriate private channel when needed.
For a suspected leak hidden inside a building, the Saudi Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture lists establishments qualified for water-use auditing and building leak detection. Check the current list and agree on the scope and price of specialist detection before work begins.

“A small puddle appears under the kitchen sink after the tap is used. I first saw it yesterday. The cabinet wall is damp; water is not spreading outside the cabinet. I have attached a wide photo and a close photo of the visible drip.” Change every detail to match your situation, including the urgency.
