How to review a home-maintenance quote before accepting
A practical checklist for reviewing one offer or comparing separate estimates for the same repair.

First make the work comparable
A quote is useful only when you understand what work it covers. In Taamer (تأمر), review the provider, proposed price, visit details and payment method before accepting or declining an available offer. Sending a request does not accept an offer for you. If you also have a separate written estimate, compare the scope as well as the total. One may cover diagnosis and repair while the other covers only a visit. If the cause is still unknown, a diagnostic visit may be the honest first step; ask how the repair would be quoted afterward.
For the current offer, and for any separate estimate you choose to compare, check these points:
- Scope: Which fixture or unit will be inspected, repaired, cleaned or replaced? What is excluded?
- Parts and materials: What is the part description or specification? Is the part included in the total? Ask how an alternative part would affect the price.
- Labor and visit: Are travel, inspection, installation, testing and cleanup included? Ask about any separate return visit.
- Timing: When can the work start, how long might it take, and what could delay it? Treat these as estimates unless agreed otherwise.
- Aftercare: What written support, if any, applies to the part and to the work? Ask whom to contact if the symptom returns.
- Total and changes: Is the stated amount the full amount for the described scope, including applicable charges? What would require your approval before the price changes?
For example, an AC estimate for a diagnostic visit is not directly comparable with one that names a replacement part, installation and testing. Ask each provider what would happen if the inspection finds a different cause. You can use the same questions even when you have only one offer.
Ask for an explanation, not just a lower number
If two estimates differ, the lower one may omit a part, testing, or follow-up; the higher one may include work you do not need. Ask the providers to explain the difference in plain language. Keep the photos and symptom description the same when seeking a separate estimate so the responses address the same job. Do not accept a replacement or added work based solely on a verbal claim; ask for the finding and updated scope before deciding.
Before accepting a Taamer offer, review the terms shown and do not assume that an unclear amount includes diagnosis, parts and repair. Messaging is not available while an offer is pending. If the listed scope does not give you enough information to decide, you can decline the available offer. After assignment, use request messages when available to confirm the scope before additional work: "Does this amount cover the repair described, or only diagnosis? Will you check with me before any additional work?" Keep the answer with the agreed description, price and any change approval. After the visit, compare the completed work with that description and record any remaining symptom. This makes follow-up easier if the issue returns.

This is a comparison checklist, not a price list or a statement of local consumer rights. Requirements and service terms depend on the actual provider and job.
